We’re officially boring 🚧 Tunnel boring has begun at SLAC’s sector 0, near the end of our linear accelerator. The 200-foot-long (14 ft high, and 18 ft wide) reinforced concrete tunnel structure is designed to house a future Low Emittance Injector for the high-energy upgrade to our powerful X-ray free electron laser, the Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS).
