The Rev. Jonathan J. Slavinskas, pastor of St. Bernard’s Church of Our Lady of Providence Parish, delivered the opening prayer on House floor at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, just 30 hours before President Trump’s State of the Union address.

The standing committee of economic development recommended the city council vote in favor of the tax break. Committee chair and Councilor-at-Large Morris Bergman, Councilor-at-Large Kathleen Toomey and Councilor-at-Large Satya Mitra unanimously voted 3-0 at the committee’s Feb. 17 meeting to recommend the tax break to the full council.
