The Rev. Jonathan J. Slavinskas, pastor of St. Bernard’s Church of Our Lady of Providence Parish, delivered the opening prayer on House floor at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, just 30 hours before President Trump’s State of the Union address.

The hospital has been found in violation of a federal labor law 14 times and has been investigated by the Massachusetts Department of Health on three separate occasions.

The standing committee of economic development recommended the city council vote in favor of the tax break. Committee chair and Councilor-at-Large Morris Bergman, Councilor-at-Large Kathleen Toomey and Councilor-at-Large Satya Mitra unanimously voted 3-0 at the committee’s Feb. 17 meeting to recommend the tax break to the full council.

The council voted to request a legal opinion on the idea.

Worcester Mayor Joseph M. Petty endorsed Gov. Maura T. Healey for reelection, citing the administration's significant investments in the city's housing, economy, and job creation.

The Menkiti Group is seeking a tax break for its office-to-housing conversion project on 401-409 Main St. The firm wants to convert the office spaces at the address into 48 market-rate apartments. Five of the apartments will be available to those earning 60% or less than the region’s area median income (AMI).
